Mother's Day Activities for Seniors

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, we thought that it would be a great idea to share our favorite activities to do with your mom or those important women in your life. Here are five ways to spend Mother’s Day with a senior.

Date Night

Whether you go to a tasty restaurant with just her or choose to cook something something special at home with the family, a delicious meal always come with a sweet memory. Take her to her favorite restaurant or maybe to the new one around the corner she’s been talking about. You can also whip up a family recipe together for the delight of the entire family.

Treat Yourself Day

When was the last time you spent the day at a spa or even treated yourself to an afternoon at the hair salon? Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to relax and rejuvenate together with your mom.  A shopping adventure, mani and pedi, or even a massage will be time well spent. It’s always a good idea to spend time together with your mom, and it’s even better if you can help her to feel good by making her look great.

Go to the Theater

Watching a movie or a play is always fun. When was the last time you went to your local theater? When was the last time your mom went to a regular theater? Get your mom out of the house and give her an opportunity to her wear her best dress while enjoying a performance together. It’s always good idea to consider what she likes, and planning ahead to see which play, movie, or event she may enjoy the most.

Start a New Activity Together

What about starting a new activity with your mom? If she is an active person, maybe you could introduce her to a relaxation yoga class. Perhaps you could encourage her to pick up old hobbies again like painting or crocheting together. Take a look at classes offered in your community that can be enjoyed by both you and your mom. If you both like to read, a book club is an ideal activity not only to spend time with her but also to have something in common to talk about during the week.

A Family Scrapbook

Nobody loves to see albums and albums full of old pictures of the family more than a mother. Making a scrapbook with her may not only could be an emotional activity, it could also be fun. Dust off those photos and take a walk down memory lane. Scrapbooking helps you to learn more about your family, especially the older members of it. This is a great activity to bring together the different generations in your family.
