Spring is in the air and residents at The Peninsula, an assisted living and memory support community, and their families will enjoy a spectacular month of activities.
With the talents of professionally trained Chef James DuBerry and his hospitality department as well as Michelle Hertz, resident programming coordinator, in activities, the community’s will have memorable celebrations for Passover and Easter.
Passover is the most celebrated Jewish holiday of the year. Just as every family has their own celebrations and rituals, The Peninsula does as well. Our Seder begins at 2 p.m. and a rabbi is on hand to discuss the significance of the holiday and its traditions.
“It’s important to create holidays that are meaningful for our residents. People enjoy feeling connected to the Passover experience,” said Executive Director Jonathan Sperber. “Chef James prepares all the holiday traditional foods for the festivities including the symbolic Seder plate. Of course, there will be matzo ball soup and gheffile fish along with a roast chicken and brisket. It’s a wonderful time of reflection as our residents share their holiday memories.”
Father Joe from the Franciscans of Fort Lauderdale visits the community every Thursday and on April 17 he’ll conduct a pre-Easter service.
On Easter Sunday at The Peninsula, the celebration will be equally as festive. Our luncheon menu is highlighted with leg of lamb, roasted chicken and Chef’s fish specialty mahi-mahi along with Key West vegetables and au gratin potatoes. The restaurant-style dining at The Peninsula makes these occasions extra special.
Later in the afternoon, the choir group from the Mount Calvary Church will entertain residents and guests with a rousing concert.
The Peninsula is located at 5100 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Hollywood and is a luxurious retirement community offering assisted living and independent living apartments and services.
